Possible Causes

Cutting disc jammed by debris, Blade motor overloaded by tall or wet grass, Blade motor wiring issue, Defective blade motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch the main power OFF and remove the mower from the lawn. Never work near the blades with power ON.

  • Inspect cutting disc: Turn the mower upside down. Check the cutting disc and pivoting blades for wrapped grass, rope, toys, or branches. Remove all obstructions carefully.
  • Check blade condition: Worn or bent blades increase load. Replace all blades as a set using genuine Stiga blades and screws. Ensure they pivot freely on their mounting bolts.
  • Clean underside: Scrape off caked grass from the deck and around the blade motor hub. A clogged deck can cause overload.
  • Test motor rotation: With power OFF, rotate the cutting disc by hand. It should spin smoothly with slight resistance. If it is stiff or grinding, the blade motor bearing may be failing.
  • Electrical check (advanced): Remove the top cover, locate the blade motor connector on the main PCB, and ensure it is firmly seated. Look for burnt smell or discoloration on the connector.
  • Restart: Turn power ON, clear the error, and start a short manual mow. If E2 returns immediately with no blockage, the blade motor or control board may require replacement.
