Possible Causes
Grass or debris jammed in rear wheel, Damaged wheel gearbox, Wheel motor wiring fault, Excessive slope causing overload
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the main switch and remove the mower from the charging base.
- Inspect drive wheels: Check both rear drive wheels for stones, branches, or packed grass between the wheel and chassis. Remove debris with a brush or wooden stick.
- Check wheel rotation: With the mower lifted, rotate each rear wheel by hand. They should turn smoothly with gear resistance. Grinding or locking indicates gearbox damage.
- Clean wheel treads: Mud and wet grass can cause excessive drag. Clean the treads thoroughly.
- Check slopes: Ensure the mower is not operating on slopes steeper than the model’s specification (often 35% max for many Stiga Autoclip models). Adjust the working area or boundary wire if necessary.
- Wiring inspection: Open the top cover (power OFF) and locate the left and right wheel motor connectors on the main board. Reseat them and check for corrosion or broken wires near the wheel motor housings.
- Test: Power ON and run a manual test drive. If E3 appears consistently on one side, that wheel motor/gearbox assembly likely needs replacement.
