Possible Causes
Shorted mowing motor winding, Damaged motor cable, Faulty motor driver on PCB, Water ingress into mowing motor housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the main switch OFF and wear gloves before inspecting the cutting system.
- Check for moisture: If the mower has been used in heavy rain or standing water, allow it to dry thoroughly for at least 24 hours in a dry, ventilated area.
- Inspect motor cable: Look under the mower for the cable leading to the mowing motor. Check for cuts, abrasions, or crushed sections.
- Manual disc rotation: With power OFF, rotate the cutting disc by hand. If it is very stiff or rough, the motor may be mechanically damaged.
Because E15 indicates an electrical fault, further testing of the mowing motor and driver circuit should be done by a Stihl technician. Replace the mowing motor or main PCB as required.
