Possible Causes
Dirty wheel encoders, Faulty IMU/gyroscope, One drive wheel slipping, Cliff sensors misreading floor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and place it upside down on a soft surface.
- 1. Clean drive wheels and encoders: Inspect the inner side of each wheel for encoder discs or magnets. Clean away dust and hair that may interfere with sensing.
- 2. Check wheel traction: Ensure the rubber treads are not excessively worn. Replace wheel modules if they slip easily on smooth floors.
- 3. Clean cliff sensors: Wipe all underside sensors with a dry cloth to prevent false readings.
- 4. Reboot and recalibrate: Power cycle the robot on a flat surface and, if available, run any sensor calibration procedure in the app.
- 5. Persistent erratic behavior: Indicates possible failure of the IMU/gyroscope or main control board, requiring professional service.
