Possible Causes
Main brush jammed with hair or debris, Main brush bearings seized, Main brush motor failing, Main brush gearbox obstructed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the Bagotte robot vacuum OFF using the power switch (if present) and remove it from the charging dock. Do not work on the unit while it is powered or charging.
Step-by-step:
- Flip the robot over on a soft surface to avoid scratching the top cover.
- Remove the main brush cover: Press the two latches on the brush guard and lift it off.
- Take out the main brush: Pull the brush up from one side. Remove all hair, threads, and debris from the bristles and the end caps. Pay special attention to the yellow or white end caps on Bagotte brushes; pull them off gently and clean the hair wrapped underneath.
- Clean the brush housing: Use a dry cloth or small brush to remove debris from the brush chamber and the drive slot where the motor engages the brush.
- Check brush rotation: Reinstall the brush and spin it by hand. It should rotate freely with minimal resistance. If it feels rough or seized, the main brush assembly or main brush bearings may need replacement.
- Inspect the main brush motor area: Look into the drive side of the brush cavity. If you see melted plastic, burnt smell, or the motor shaft does not turn by hand (gently), the main brush motor module is likely failing.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the brush and cover, place the robot on the floor, power it ON, and start a cleaning cycle. If E1 clears, the jam was the cause.
- If E1 persists: Replace the Bagotte main brush motor module or the complete main brush assembly kit (brush + bearings + cover) according to your model’s service manual.
