Possible Causes
Dirty or damaged encoder disk on drive motor, Obstructed encoder sensor, Loose motor connector, Failed encoder on drive motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and place it upside down.
- 1. Check wheel rotation: Spin each drive wheel by hand. They should feel similar in resistance.
- 2. Remove debris: Clean around the wheel hubs and axles. Some Bosch models have encoder openings near the wheel; gently blow out dust with compressed air.
- 3. Hard reset: Power the robot OFF for 30 seconds, then ON, and test again.
- 4. Test in open area: Run the robot on a flat, open floor and observe if it still veers or triggers E17.
- 5. If E17 persists: The encoder or drive motor assembly is likely faulty and will need replacement as a unit.
