Possible Causes
IR receiver window dirty, Charging base IR emitters blocked, IR receiver board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the robot is on the floor and not on an elevated surface.
- Clean IR windows: Wipe the front IR receiver window on the robot and the IR emitter windows on the charging base with a soft, dry cloth.
- Check dock placement: Place the charging base against a wall on a hard, flat surface with at least 1.5–2 feet (0.5 m) of clearance on each side and 4 feet (1.2 m) in front. Avoid direct sunlight or mirrors facing the dock.
- Test manual docking: Place the robot about 3–4 feet in front of the dock and press the Home button. Observe if it detects and approaches the dock.
- Inspect power to dock: Confirm the dock’s power LED is lit and the adapter is firmly plugged in.
If E7 persists and the robot cannot see the dock even at close range, the IR receiver board inside the robot may be faulty.
