Possible Causes

Blocked cyclone assembly, Blocked brush bar airway, Clogged pre‑motor filter, Failing suction motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and remove it from the dock. Do not run the motor with covers removed.

  • Empty the bin: Remove the dust bin/cyclone unit and empty it completely. Tap gently to dislodge compacted dust.
  • Check cyclone and inlet: Look through the cyclone inlets and the main suction inlet on the underside. Remove any hair, dust clumps, or foreign objects.
  • Clean filters: Remove the pre‑motor filter (usually in or near the bin). Tap off loose dust outdoors, then rinse under cold water only if Dyson specifies it is washable. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before refitting.
  • Inspect brush bar airway: Remove the brush bar module and check the suction channel behind it for blockages. Clear any debris.
  • Test again: Reassemble fully and start a clean. If F2 returns quickly, the suction motor may be drawing excessive current and require replacement.

Do not bypass thermal cut‑outs or run the robot with blocked airflow, as this can permanently damage the motor.
