Possible Causes

Dirty IR receiver window, Faulty IR receiver on robot, Dock IR emitter failure, Misaligned dock placement

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dock before moving it. Turn the robot OFF while cleaning sensors.

  • Clean IR windows: Wipe the dark plastic window on the front/top of the robot and the IR window on the dock with a dry cloth.
  • Check dock LEDs: Plug the dock back in and confirm its indicator light is on. If the dock has no power, test the wall outlet and power adapter.
  • Reposition dock: Place the dock against a flat wall with at least 0.5 m (1.5 ft) clear space on each side and 1.5 m (5 ft) in front. Avoid direct sunlight on the dock.
  • Test return‑to‑dock: Start the robot near the dock and press the home/return button. If it cannot see the dock and F9 appears, the IR receiver or dock emitter may be faulty.

If another compatible dock works but the original does not, replace the dock. If no dock is detected at all, the robot's IR receiver board may need service.
