Possible Causes
Hair wrapped around side brush shafts, Side brush motor jammed, Side brush gear train damaged, Side brush motor connector loose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and flip it over.
- Remove side brushes: Unscrew or pull off the left and right side brushes.
- Clean shafts and hubs: Remove hair and fibers from the brush hubs and the motor shafts. Use tweezers for tight spaces.
- Check motor rotation: Gently rotate the exposed motor shafts with your fingers. They should turn with slight resistance but not be stuck.
- Reinstall or replace brushes: If the bristles are deformed or the hubs cracked, replace the side brushes. Reinstall and tighten screws.
- Test operation: Power on the robot and start a cleaning cycle, watching the side brushes.
If C5 remains: The side brush motor assembly (often a small module) may need replacement. On some Ecovacs models, each side brush motor is a separate replaceable unit.
