Possible Causes
Operating on very dark or black flooring, Strong sunlight or reflective surfaces confusing sensors, Miscalibrated cliff sensor, Failing IR emitter/receiver on cliff sensor board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before cleaning sensors.
Step-by-step:
- Clean cliff sensors: Wipe all underside cliff sensor windows with a microfiber cloth to remove dust and film.
- Change test environment: Move the robot to a lighter-colored, matte hard floor away from direct sunlight and mirrors. Start a cleaning cycle and observe behavior.
- Use boundary strips: If the robot consistently misreads certain dark rugs as cliffs, use Eufy boundary strips (if supported) to block those areas.
- Advanced calibration: Some models allow sensor calibration via service tools only. If E14 persists, inspect the cliff sensor PCB and wiring. Replace the cliff sensor module if components are damaged.
When to stop: Persistent E14 on normal flooring after cleaning suggests sensor hardware failure; contact a technician.
