Possible Causes

Hair or fibers wrapped around main brush ends, Clogged brush housing, Worn or seized brush bearings, Faulty main brush motor or gearbox

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and remove it from the charging base.

Step-by-step:

  • Remove the main brush guard: Flip the robot over and unlatch the brush guard (usually two clips). Lift it off.
  • Clean the main brush: Remove the main brush and cut away hair and threads from the bristles and both end caps. Pop off removable end caps (if present) and clean underneath.
  • Clean the brush cavity: Vacuum or wipe out dust and debris from the brush channel and suction inlet.
  • Inspect bearings: Check the brush end bearings for smooth rotation. Replace the main brush if bearings are worn or seized.
  • Test the motor: With the brush removed, power ON and start a cleaning cycle. Look into the brush cavity to see if the motor drive shaft or coupling spins. If it spins normally, reinstall a clean brush and test again.
  • Advanced repair: If the shaft does not spin or makes grinding noises, remove the bottom cover to access the main brush motor and gearbox module. Check the connector to the main PCB. Replace the main brush motor assembly if the motor is burnt or the gearbox is jammed.

When to stop: If cleaning and brush replacement do not clear E5, the motor module likely needs replacement by a technician.
