Possible Causes
Dustbin not fully inserted, Dustbin sensor switch stuck, Broken dustbin tab that actuates the switch, Faulty dustbin sensor on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and remove it from the charger.
Step-by-step:
- Re-seat the dustbin: Remove the dustbin completely, empty it, and reinstall it firmly until it clicks. Ensure the filter is properly seated so the bin can fully engage.
- Inspect dustbin tabs: Look for small plastic tabs or protrusions on the dustbin that press a switch inside the robot. If a tab is broken, the robot may not detect the bin.
- Clean the sensor area: Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean the dustbin cavity, especially around any small switches or optical sensors.
- Test with light pressure: With the robot ON, gently press where the dustbin seats to see if the error clears. Do not block vents.
- Advanced repair: Remove the top or rear cover to access the dustbin detection switch or optical sensor. Check that the switch actuates when the bin is inserted and that the wiring harness is secure. Replace the dustbin sensor switch module or the dustbin assembly if physically damaged.
When to stop: If the bin and tabs are intact but the robot still reports E6, the internal sensor or main board may require professional service.
