Possible Causes
Obstructed infrared docking signal, Dirty IR receiver on robot, Poor base placement, Faulty docking transmitter on base
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the base before moving or cleaning it.
Step-by-step:
- Reposition base: Place the base against a wall on a hard floor with at least 1 meter of clear space in front and 0.5 meters on each side.
- Clean IR windows: Wipe the small dark plastic windows on the front of the base and the front of the robot (IR receiver) with a microfiber cloth.
- Remove obstacles: Ensure there are no mirrors, shiny metal, or dark furniture legs directly in front of the base that could interfere with IR signals.
- Test manual docking: Place the robot 1–2 meters in front of the base and press the Home/Dock button. Observe if it approaches and aligns correctly.
- Advanced check: If the robot cannot see the base at all, the docking IR transmitter on the base or the IR receiver board on the robot may be faulty and require replacement.
When to stop: If a different base works but the original does not, replace the base; if no base works, service the robot’s IR receiver.
