Possible Causes

Dust covering infrared cliff sensors, Damaged cliff sensor window, Faulty cliff sensor board, Loose cliff sensor connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and keep it away from stairs while testing.

Steps to try:

  • 1. Locate cliff sensors: On the underside front edge, identify the small dark windows (usually 3–4) that house the drop sensors.
  • 2. Clean sensor windows: Use a dry microfiber cloth or cotton swab to gently wipe each sensor window. Do not use excessive liquid; if needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water and dry immediately.
  • 3. Check for physical damage: Inspect the plastic windows for cracks or deep scratches that could distort readings.
  • 4. Test on flat surface: Place the robot on a light‑colored, flat floor away from edges and start a cleaning cycle. If it immediately reports E6, a sensor may be faulty.
  • 5. Inspect internal connections (advanced): Remove the bottom cover and verify that the cliff sensor board connectors are firmly seated on the main PCB.
  • 6. Replace sensor module: If cleaning and reseating connectors do not help, replace the cliff sensor module with a Gorenje‑specified drop sensor assembly.
