Possible Causes

Front bumper stuck due to dirt or misalignment, Bumper spring mechanism jammed, Bumper switch harness loose, Bumper sensor board failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock.

  • Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release it across the entire width. It should move freely and spring back without sticking.
  • Clean bumper gap: Use compressed air or a soft brush to remove dust, hair, and debris from the gap between the bumper and the body.
  • Inspect for warping: Check if the bumper is misaligned or bent from impact. If it rubs against the shell, gently realign it.
  • Test switches: With the robot ON, lightly tap the bumper and listen for click sounds from the internal switches. If the robot does not respond to bumper presses, the bumper switch board may be faulty.
  • Advanced repair: Remove the top cover (and sometimes the front cover) to access the bumper switch board. Ensure the cable is firmly connected to the main PCB. If damaged, replace the Bumper Sensor / Switch Board.
