Possible Causes

Obstructed IR receiver on robot, Dock placed in poor location, Strong sunlight interfering with IR signal, Faulty dock IR transmitter or robot IR receiver

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: No internal work is required for basic checks.

  • Relocate dock: Place the Hoover charging base against a wall with at least 0.5 m clearance on each side and 1.5 m in front. Avoid direct sunlight and mirrors.
  • Clean IR windows: Wipe the small dark plastic windows on the front of the dock and the front of the robot with a soft cloth.
  • Remove obstacles: Clear objects near the dock that may block the robot's path or IR signal.
  • Test manual docking: Place the robot about 1 m in front of the dock and press the Home/Dock button. Observe if it approaches and aligns.
  • If E15 persists: The dock's IR transmitter or the robot's IR receiver board may be defective. Try a replacement charging base. If that fails, the robot's front IR receiver PCB may need service.
