Possible Causes
Dustbin not fully inserted, Dustbin micro-switch stuck, Broken dustbin tab that actuates the switch, Faulty dustbin sensor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before removing the dustbin.
- Remove and reseat dustbin: Pull out the Hoover dustbin completely, then slide it back in firmly until it clicks. Ensure no debris is blocking the bin rails.
- Inspect bin tabs: Look for small plastic tabs or protrusions on the dustbin that press a switch inside the robot. If a tab is broken, the robot will not detect the bin.
- Clean the sensor area: Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean around the dustbin sensor slot and micro-switch. Dust buildup can prevent proper operation.
- Check switch movement: With the bin removed, gently press the micro-switch lever (if accessible). It should click crisply and spring back.
- Test again: Power the robot ON and check if the error clears.
- If E5 remains: Replace the dustbin assembly if its tab is damaged. If the bin is intact, the internal dustbin sensor or micro-switch PCB may need replacement by a technician.
