Possible Causes
Dust covering cliff sensor lenses, Sunlight interference on sensors, Faulty infrared cliff sensor module, Loose cliff sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and place it on a table with a soft cloth.
- Locate cliff sensors: These are usually small dark windows on the underside front edge of the Hoover robot.
- Clean sensor windows: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe each sensor window. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water (never spray liquid directly).
- Check for damage: Inspect the sensor windows for cracks or deep scratches.
- Test in a different area: Move the robot away from direct sunlight or highly reflective floors and try again.
- Reset power: Turn the main power switch OFF for 1 minute, then back ON.
- If E6 persists: The cliff sensor module or its wiring may be faulty. Replacing the cliff sensor array usually requires removing the bottom cover and swapping the sensor PCB and harness.
