Possible Causes
Laser turret obstructed by dust, LDS motor jammed, LDS cable disconnected, LDS module failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock. Do not stare into the laser aperture.
- 1. Inspect the turret: On LDS-equipped iHome models, locate the round laser turret on top. Check for dust, hair, or objects blocking its rotation.
- 2. Clean the window: Gently wipe the turret window with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust.
- 3. Test rotation: With the robot OFF, gently try to rotate the turret by hand. It should move smoothly with slight resistance. If it is stuck, debris or a failed motor may be the cause.
- 4. Power test: Turn the robot ON and listen for the turret motor when starting a cleaning cycle. If it does not spin, proceed to internal checks.
- 5. Internal inspection (advanced): Open the top cover and verify that the LDS module cable is securely connected to the main PCB and that no wires are pinched.
- 6. Replace LDS module: If cleaning and reseating cables do not resolve E14, replace the entire iHome LDS module (includes laser, motor, and encoder).
