Possible Causes
Side brush tangled with hair or string, Side brush motor shaft obstructed, Side brush motor worn out, Side brush mounting hub cracked or slipping
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power OFF the robot and remove it from the dock before working underneath.
- 1. Remove the side brush: Turn the robot over. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the side brush. Lift the brush off the motor shaft.
- 2. Clear tangles: Remove hair, string, and debris from the side brush arms and from around the motor shaft. Use tweezers if needed.
- 3. Inspect the hub: Check the plastic hub of the side brush for cracks or rounding. If it is damaged, the brush may slip and trigger an error; replace the side brush.
- 4. Test motor rotation: Gently spin the exposed motor shaft with your fingers. It should rotate freely. If it feels stuck or gritty, the side brush motor is likely failing.
- 5. Reinstall and test: Reattach the side brush and screw. Power ON the robot and start a cleaning cycle. Observe whether the side brush spins normally.
- 6. Replace motor if needed: If E2 persists and the brush is clean, the iHome side brush motor or side brush module should be replaced. This usually requires removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the motor from the main board.
