Possible Causes

Dust bin not seated properly, Vacuum inlet clogged, Fan motor obstructed by debris, Fan motor burned out

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot, remove it from the dock, and take out the dust bin before inspecting the suction path.

  • 1. Check dust bin placement: Remove and firmly reinsert the dust bin, ensuring it clicks fully into place. Some iHome models have a bin presence switch that must be engaged.
  • 2. Inspect for clogs: Look into the suction inlet on the robot and the outlet on the dust bin. Remove any blockages such as large debris, paper, or pet hair clumps.
  • 3. Clean the filter: Remove the HEPA or foam filter from the dust bin. Tap it gently over a trash can to remove dust. Do not wash HEPA filters unless the manual explicitly allows it. A heavily clogged filter can trigger fan overload.
  • 4. Test suction: With the bin and filter reinstalled, power ON the robot and start a cleaning cycle. Place your hand near the exhaust vent to feel for airflow.
  • 5. Internal fan check (advanced): If there is no airflow, open the robot housing and locate the vacuum fan motor assembly. Check for debris around the fan blades and ensure the fan spins freely by hand.
  • 6. Replace fan motor: If the fan is seized or the motor does not run when commanded, replace the iHome vacuum fan motor assembly with a compatible part.
