Possible Causes

Battery cells degraded, Battery connector loose, Charging contacts dirty, Charging circuit on main board faulty

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and unplug the charging dock from the wall before cleaning contacts or accessing the battery.

  • 1. Clean charging contacts: Wipe the metal contacts on the bottom/front of the robot and on the dock with a dry cloth. If heavily tarnished, lightly dampen the cloth with isopropyl alcohol and clean again. Dry completely.
  • 2. Check dock power: Verify the dock's power indicator (if present) is lit. Test the outlet with another device to ensure it has power.
  • 3. Reseat the battery: Open the battery compartment (usually on the underside) by removing the screws. Carefully lift the battery, check the connector for looseness or corrosion, then firmly reconnect and reinstall the battery.
  • 4. Full recharge: Place the robot on the dock, ensuring the contacts align. Allow it to charge uninterrupted for at least 4–6 hours.
  • 5. Test runtime: Start a cleaning cycle and observe how long the robot runs before shutting down. If it stops quickly and shows E9 again, the battery is likely worn out.
  • 6. Replace battery: Install a new iHome lithium-ion battery pack specified for your model. Dispose of the old battery according to local regulations.
  • 7. If still faulty: Persistent E9 after battery replacement may indicate a defective charging board or main control board, which should be replaced by a qualified technician.
