Possible Causes

Cliff sensors covered by dust, Robot used on dark or reflective flooring confusing sensors, Cliff sensor wiring loose, Failed IR emitter/receiver on cliff sensor board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF and flip it upside down on a soft surface to avoid scratching.

Step-by-step:

  • Locate cliff sensors: On ILIFE robot vacuums, cliff (anti‑drop) sensors are the small dark windows along the front underside edge.
  • Clean sensors thoroughly: Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe each sensor window. For stubborn grime, lightly dampen the cloth with water and dry immediately. Do not spray liquid directly.
  • Check for stickers or tape: Ensure no protective films, stickers, or aftermarket bumpers are covering the sensor windows.
  • Test on light, non‑reflective floor: Place the robot on a light-colored, matte hard floor (not near stairs) and start a cleaning cycle. Avoid black carpets or high‑gloss tiles during testing.
  • Reset / power cycle: Turn the main power switch OFF for 30 seconds, then ON again and retry.

If E2 persists: The cliff sensor module or its harness may be faulty. Replacement of the cliff sensor board is typically required and may need a technician if you are not comfortable opening the unit.
