Possible Causes
Side brush tangled with hair, Side brush shaft bent, Side brush motor gearbox jammed, Side brush motor wiring loose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Power off the robot and remove it from the dock before working on the underside.
- Remove the side brush: Turn the robot over. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw holding the side brush. Lift the brush off the shaft.
- Clean the side brush: Remove hair and string from the bristles and hub. Check that the hub is not cracked or deformed.
- Inspect the shaft: Check the side brush shaft for bending or damage. It should be straight and firmly attached.
- Check for free rotation: With the brush removed, gently spin the shaft with your fingers. It should rotate smoothly with slight resistance from the gearbox.
- Test without brush: Power on the robot and start a cleaning cycle briefly. Observe if the shaft spins. If it does not move or makes grinding noises, the side brush motor/gearbox is likely damaged.
- Reinstall and test: Refit the side brush and screw. Run a short cleaning test.
- If E2 persists: Replace the side brush motor module or the entire side brush assembly. This usually requires opening the bottom cover and disconnecting the motor from the main PCB.
