Possible Causes

Main roller brush jammed with hair or debris, Main brush bearings seized, Main brush motor failing, Main brush gear train obstructed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the power switch on the robot OFF (if present) and remove the robot from the charging dock. Do not work on the brush while the robot is powered.

  • Step 1 – Flip the robot over: Place a towel on a table, turn the robot upside down, and locate the main roller brush cover.
  • Step 2 – Remove brush cover: Release the latches or remove the screws (depending on model) and lift off the main brush guard.
  • Step 3 – Clean the main brush: Pull out the main roller brush. Cut away hair and threads from the bristles and the ends of the brush using scissors. Clean the brush cavity and the gear end with a dry cloth.
  • Step 4 – Check brush bearings: On many Lefant models, the end caps of the main brush can be pulled off. Remove them and clear any hair wrapped around the shafts. Ensure the brush spins freely by hand.
  • Step 5 – Inspect the main brush motor area: Look into the brush housing where the brush connects to the drive. Remove any debris or foreign objects from the gear socket.
  • Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Reinstall the brush and cover, switch the robot ON, and start a cleaning cycle. If E1 persists, the main brush motor or internal gearbox may be damaged and require replacement.
  • When to stop: If you smell burning, hear grinding, or the brush still will not rotate freely, discontinue use and arrange for motor replacement or professional service.
