Possible Causes

Side brush tangled with hair or cords, Side brush hub cracked or deformed, Side brush motor shaft obstructed, Side brush motor failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Power the robot OFF and remove it from the dock before touching the side brush.

  • Step 1 – Inspect the side brush: Turn the robot over and check the side brush (the small spinning brush on the edge). Remove any hair, string, or wires wrapped around the bristles or hub.
  • Step 2 – Remove the side brush: Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the side brush (if present). Pull the brush straight off the shaft.
  • Step 3 – Clean the shaft: Remove hair and dust from the motor shaft and surrounding area. Ensure the shaft can spin freely by gently turning it with your fingers.
  • Step 4 – Inspect the side brush hub: If the plastic hub is cracked, warped, or stripped, replace the side brush with a new Lefant-compatible side brush.
  • Step 5 – Reinstall and test: Refit the side brush, tighten the screw, power the robot ON, and start a cleaning cycle. Observe whether the side brush spins normally.
  • If E2 remains: The side brush motor or its driver circuit on the main PCB may be faulty. Further repair requires opening the chassis and should be done by a qualified technician.
