Possible Causes
Left or right drive wheel jammed with debris, Wheel suspension blocked by trapped object, Drive wheel motor failure, Damaged wheel encoder
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn the robot OFF and remove it from the dock before working on the wheels.
- Step 1 – Check for obvious obstructions: Inspect both drive wheels. Remove any trapped cables, toys, or rug edges. Rotate each wheel by hand; they should move smoothly and spring up and down.
- Step 2 – Clean wheel wells: Use tweezers or a small brush to remove hair and dust from around the wheel axles and inside the wheel wells.
- Step 3 – Test suspension: Press each wheel up and down. It should move freely and spring back. If it is stuck, check for debris or bent plastic around the suspension arm.
- Step 4 – Power-on test: Turn the robot ON and start a cleaning cycle while holding it in the air. Confirm that both wheels spin. If one wheel does not move or makes grinding noises, the motor or gearbox may be damaged.
- Step 5 – Advanced (optional): If comfortable, remove the bottom cover (after removing screws) to access the wheel module. Check for broken gears or burnt smell from the motor.
- Stop and service: If the wheel is physically damaged or the motor does not run, replace the affected wheel module or seek professional repair.
