Possible Causes

Front bumper jammed by debris, Bumper springs dislodged or broken, Bumper infrared or mechanical switch failure, Bumper wiring harness loose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn OFF the robot before manipulating the bumper.

  • Step 1 – Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release it. It should move freely and spring back evenly across its length.
  • Step 2 – Remove debris: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the body. Remove any trapped dirt, cables, or plastic pieces using tweezers or compressed air.
  • Step 3 – Tap to release: Lightly tap along the bumper with your hand to free any stuck internal switches.
  • Step 4 – Power cycle: Turn the robot ON and start a cleaning cycle. If the bumper still appears stuck or E6 returns, internal switches or sensors may be damaged.
  • Advanced check (optional): Remove the top cover and front shell (after taking out screws) to access the bumper sensor board. Verify that the micro-switches or IR sensors are firmly mounted and that the wiring harness is connected.
  • Service: Replace the bumper sensor board or bumper assembly if physical damage or failed switches are found.
