Possible Causes

Depleted or failed lithium-ion battery pack, Faulty power switch or power button PCB, Open circuit in internal power harness, Failed main PCB power regulator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the charging dock from the wall before working on the robot. Do not short battery terminals. If the battery is swollen or hot, stop and contact a professional.

  • 1. Verify outlet and dock power: Plug a lamp or phone charger into the same outlet to confirm it has power. Ensure the dock's power LED is lit. If not, try a different outlet.
  • 2. Check robot contacts and dock rails: Wipe the charging contacts on the robot and the metal rails on the dock with a dry cloth. If corroded, lightly clean with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and let dry.
  • 3. Force reboot: Press and hold the main power button on the robot for 10–15 seconds (or the Power + Home buttons together on some LG models) to reset the control board. Then place the robot on the dock for at least 30 minutes.
  • 4. Inspect battery pack: Remove the battery cover (usually on the underside, secured by small screws). Check for swelling, leakage, or burnt smell. If any are present, do not reuse the battery.
  • 5. Measure battery voltage (advanced): Using a multimeter set to DC volts, measure across the battery connector (do not short the pins). If the reading is far below the rated voltage (e.g., under 10 V for a 14.4 V pack), the pack is likely defective and should be replaced.
  • 6. Replace battery pack: Disconnect the old LG lithium-ion battery pack by gently unplugging the connector from the main board. Install a compatible LG replacement pack, ensuring the connector is fully seated and polarity matches. Reinstall the cover and charge fully before use.
  • If the robot still shows no signs of life after a known-good battery and dock, the main PCB or power switch assembly is likely faulty and should be serviced by a technician.
