Possible Causes

Dirty or oxidized charging contacts, Failed charging dock power supply, Damaged charging contact springs on robot, Faulty charge management circuit on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the dock before cleaning contacts. Do not use water on electrical parts.

  • 1. Confirm dock power: Ensure the dock's indicator LED is lit when plugged in. If not, try another outlet. If still off, the dock power supply may be defective.
  • 2. Clean charging contacts: Use a dry cloth or pencil eraser to clean the metal pads on the robot and the rails/pins on the dock. For stubborn oxidation, use a cotton swab with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol and let dry completely.
  • 3. Check robot seating: Place the robot on the dock manually. Make sure the front of the robot is firmly against the dock bumper and the contacts align. You should hear a chime or see a charging icon within a few seconds.
  • 4. Inspect contact springs: Look at the robot's charging pads from the side. If the spring-loaded contacts are stuck, bent, or recessed, they may not touch the dock. Gently free any stuck contacts; if broken, the contact assembly must be replaced.
  • 5. Test with another dock (if available): If you have access to a compatible LG dock, test the robot on that dock. If it charges normally, replace your original dock.
  • If cleaning and reseating do not restore charging, the internal charge management circuit on the main PCB may be faulty and requires professional repair.
