Dustbin Presence Switch / Sensor Fault

Possible Causes
Dustbin not fully seated, Broken dustbin latch, Faulty bin presence microswitch, Damaged bin detection magnet or reed switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the robot before removing the dustbin.
- 1. Remove and reinstall dustbin: Pull out the dustbin completely, empty it, and then firmly push it back into place until it clicks. Ensure the lid is fully closed.
- 2. Inspect bin latch and tabs: Check for broken plastic tabs or a damaged latch that might prevent the bin from seating properly. Replace the dustbin if the latch is broken.
- 3. Clean bin contacts/sensors: Some LG models use small contacts or magnets to detect the bin. Wipe any contacts with a dry cloth and ensure magnets (if present) are not missing.
- 4. Check bin presence switch: Look inside the bin cavity for a small lever or switch that is pressed when the bin is inserted. Gently press it with a non-metallic tool to confirm it moves freely. If it is stuck or broken, the switch assembly may need replacement.
- If the robot still reports the bin missing with a known-good bin, the bin detection switch or sensor on the main PCB may be faulty and should be serviced.
