Possible Causes

Blocked ventilation around robot or dock, Failing battery pack generating excess heat, Faulty battery temperature sensor (thermistor), Defective charge control circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: If the robot or battery feels very hot, unplug the dock and allow the unit to cool completely before handling. Do not puncture or open the battery pack.

  • 1. Improve ventilation: Ensure the dock is not inside a cabinet or against a heat source. Provide open space around the robot while charging.
  • 2. Allow cooling time: Let the robot sit powered off for at least 30–60 minutes, then try charging again.
  • 3. Inspect battery pack: Remove the battery cover and check for swelling, discoloration, or a burnt smell. If any are present, discontinue use and replace the battery pack.
  • 4. Check for dust buildup: Clean dust from vents and around the battery compartment to improve heat dissipation.
  • If the error recurs with a new, genuine LG battery and proper ventilation, the battery thermistor or charge control circuit on the main PCB may be defective and should be serviced professionally.
