Possible Causes
Hair or string wrapped around side brush, Jammed side brush gearbox, Failed side brush motor, Loose side brush motor wiring to mainboard
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch the robot OFF and remove it from the charging base before working on the brushes.
- Step 1 – Remove side brush: Turn the robot upside down on a soft surface. Unscrew or pull off the side brush (depending on model). Remove all hair, string, and debris from the hub and shaft.
- Step 2 – Clean brush socket: Inspect the side brush motor shaft and surrounding area. Use tweezers to pull out any wrapped hair or threads from the shaft and gearbox opening.
- Step 3 – Test without brush: With the robot upside down, turn it ON and start a cleaning cycle briefly. Observe if the side brush motor shaft spins freely without the brush attached. If it does, reinstall the brush and test again.
- Step 4 – Check wiring: If the shaft does not spin, remove the bottom cover to access the side brush motor. Check that the motor plug is firmly connected to the mainboard and that no wires are broken.
- Step 5 – Replace motor module: If the motor is seized or does not run even with correct voltage from the board, replace the Medion side brush motor module or complete side brush assembly.
- Note: Do not lubricate the motor with oil; it can damage the motor and attract dust.
