Possible Causes

Deeply discharged Li‑ion battery pack, Battery protection circuit tripped, Faulty battery temperature sensor, Defective main control board power stage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF with the main power switch (if present) and remove it from the charging station. Do not open the battery compartment unless the unit is powered off and unplug the charger from the wall.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Hard reset: Turn the main power switch off (or hold the power button for 10–15 seconds if no switch), wait 60 seconds, then turn it back on. Try starting a short cleaning cycle.
  • 2. Force a full charge: Place the robot firmly on the original Miele charging station. Confirm the charging contacts on both the robot and dock are clean and making contact. Let it charge uninterrupted for at least 4–5 hours, even if the indicator shows partial charge.
  • 3. Inspect charging contacts: Wipe the robot’s charging pads and the dock’s contacts with a soft dry cloth. If there is oxidation, lightly wipe with a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, then dry completely.
  • 4. Check battery temperature: If the robot feels unusually hot or very cold, allow it to reach room temperature (20–25 °C) and try again. Battery protection may trigger outside this range.
  • 5. Battery replacement (advanced users): If the robot still shows F1 and is several years old with short runtime, the Li‑ion battery pack may be defective. Power the unit off, remove the battery cover (usually on the underside), disconnect the battery connector carefully, and install a genuine Miele replacement pack with the same rating. Reassemble and fully charge before use.

When to call a technician: If a new battery does not clear F1, or if there are signs of swelling, leakage, or burning smell from the battery area, stop using the robot and contact Miele service. The main control board or battery protection circuit may be faulty.
