Possible Causes

Dust bin not fully seated, Dirty bin sensor, Broken bin detection switch, Faulty bin full optical sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the robot OFF before removing the dust bin.

Steps:

  • 1. Remove and reinsert dust bin: Pull out the dust bin completely. Check for debris around the bin rails and sensor area. Reinsert the bin firmly until it clicks into place.
  • 2. Clean bin sensors: Locate the bin detection area (often a small switch or optical window near the bin opening). Wipe it gently with a dry cloth. Also clean any reflective surfaces on the bin itself.
  • 3. Empty the bin: Open the dust bin and empty all contents. Tap it gently to dislodge fine dust. If washable, follow Miele’s instructions to wash and dry it completely before reinserting.
  • 4. Reset and test: Power the robot back on with the bin properly installed and start a cleaning cycle.

When to call a technician: If F9 persists with a correctly seated and clean bin, the bin detection switch or optical sensor may be defective. Professional replacement of the bin sensor or main PCB input circuit is recommended.
