Possible Causes
Cliff sensors dirty or misaligned, Strong ambient light saturating sensors, Faulty cliff sensor module, Firmware miscalibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the robot and inspect for physical damage from any falls.
- Clean cliff sensors: Wipe all underside cliff sensor windows with a dry microfiber cloth.
- Test over edge: Holding the robot securely, lower the front over a table edge while powered on. The wheels should stop and reverse. If not, the sensors may be faulty.
- Adjust environment: Avoid running the robot in direct sunlight near stairs; close blinds if necessary.
- Service sensors: If the robot continues to ignore edges, replace the cliff sensor module or have the mainboard inspected.
Warning: Until the issue is resolved, block stairways with physical barriers to prevent falls.
