Possible Causes
Dust bin not fully seated, Bin presence microswitch stuck, Bin sensor magnet misaligned, Dust bin latch broken
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot.
- Step 1 – Remove and reseat bin: Pull out the dust bin completely, then slide it back in firmly until you hear or feel a click.
- Step 2 – Inspect bin latch: Check that the bin latch is intact and holds the bin tightly. If cracked or loose, the bin may not engage the sensor.
- Step 3 – Clean sensor area: Look for a small switch or magnetic sensor near the bin opening. Blow out dust and wipe with a dry cloth.
- Step 4 – Check for play: Wiggle the bin gently; excessive movement can cause intermittent detection. Add a thin foam pad on the bin handle (temporary fix) to improve contact if needed.
- Step 5 – Test: Power ON and start cleaning. If E8 persists, the bin detection switch or sensor on the main board may need replacement.
