Possible Causes
Left wheel encoder disc dirty or damaged, Loose encoder sensor, Faulty left drive motor, Broken wiring to left wheel module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the robot and place it upside down on a soft cloth.
- Clean left wheel area: Remove hair and debris from around the left wheel and axle.
- Check wheel travel: Press the left wheel up and down to ensure the suspension moves freely.
- Rotate wheel: Spin the left wheel by hand. It should rotate smoothly. Any grinding or tight spots may indicate internal damage.
- Power reset: Turn the robot back ON and test. If E8 appears immediately, the encoder or motor may be faulty.
- Advanced check (for experienced users): If you are comfortable and your warranty has expired, you can remove the bottom cover to visually inspect the left wheel module connector on the main PCB. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Service if unresolved: Persistent E8 usually requires replacement of the left wheel motor assembly, which is best handled by a Philips-authorized service center.
