Possible Causes
Worn suction motor bearings, Foreign object in fan housing, Damaged main brush gearbox, Debris in drive wheel gearbox
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the robot and remove it from the dock. Do not continue running the robot if the noise is very loud or burning smells are present.
- Isolate noise source: Run the robot briefly while lifted slightly (keeping wheels free but secure) to determine if the noise comes from the fan area, main brush, or wheels.
- Check main brush and wheels: Clean hair and debris from the main brush and drive wheels. A jammed brush or wheel can cause grinding noises.
- Inspect fan inlet: Remove the dust bin and look into the suction inlet for foreign objects (e.g., small toys, stones). Remove any obstructions carefully.
- Stop if noise persists: If the noise continues after cleaning, the suction motor or gearbox is likely worn. Continued use can cause further damage; have the motor assembly inspected and replaced by a technician.
