Possible Causes
Debris in main brush bearings, Foreign object in suction fan, Worn drive wheel gearbox, Loose screws on bottom shell or brush guard
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power off and flip the robot over before inspection.
Step-by-step:
- Isolate noise source: Run the robot briefly while upside down (hold it securely) to determine if noise comes from brushes, wheels, or fan.
- Service main brush: Remove the main brush and end caps. Clean hair and debris from bearings and reinstall. If noise disappears with brush removed, replace the brush if worn.
- Check wheels: Spin each drive wheel by hand. Grinding or clicking suggests gearbox wear; the wheel module may need replacement.
- Tighten screws: Check and gently tighten screws on the brush guard and bottom shell.
If a high-pitched whine or rattle persists from inside the body, the suction fan bearings may be failing and the fan assembly should be replaced.
