Possible Causes
Dirty front IR sensors, Faulty IR emitter/receiver pair, Disconnected front sensor harness, Damaged front sensor PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the robot before cleaning sensors.
- 1. Locate sensors: On most SilverCrest models, front obstacle sensors are behind dark plastic windows on the front and sides.
- 2. Clean sensor windows: Wipe all front and side windows with a soft, dry cloth. Remove fingerprints, dust, and pet hair.
- 3. Test in open area: Place the robot in the middle of a clear room and start cleaning. If E12 no longer appears, the issue was likely dirt or reflections.
- 4. Avoid direct sunlight: Strong sunlight can saturate IR sensors. Test in normal indoor lighting.
- 5. Inspect harness (advanced): If E12 persists, open the housing and check the front sensor board connection to the main PCB. Replace the SilverCrest front IR sensor board if damaged.
