Possible Causes
Dirty charging contacts, Dock IR beacon blocked, Misaligned dock placement, Faulty charging contact springs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the charging dock before cleaning contacts.
Clean and inspect:
- Wipe the metal charging contacts on both the robot and dock with a dry cloth. For stubborn oxidation, lightly rub with a pencil eraser, then wipe clean.
- Ensure the dock is placed against a wall on a flat surface with enough clearance on both sides, as specified in the manual.
- Check that the dock's front IR window is not covered by dust or objects.
Test docking:
- Plug the dock back in and command the robot to return to charge via the app or button.
If E18 persists: The robot's charging contact springs may be weak or the dock's internal electronics may be faulty. Replace the charging dock first (easiest). If the issue remains, the robot's charging contact assembly or main board may need replacement.
