Possible Causes
Main brush end magnet missing or dirty, Hall sensor on brush motor PCB failed, Brush motor harness damaged, Firmware misreading tachometer signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power OFF the robot and remove the main brush.
- 1. Inspect brush magnet: Check the drive end of the main brush for a small embedded magnet or metal ring used for speed sensing. Ensure it is present and not covered in metal debris.
- 2. Clean sensor area: Look into the brush housing near the drive end for a small sensor. Use compressed air to blow out dust and debris.
- 3. Check harness: Open the bottom cover and trace the main brush motor wires to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is fully seated and the wires are not pinched or broken.
- 4. Test after cleaning: Reinstall the brush, power ON the robot, and start a cleaning cycle. If E16 persists, the brush motor assembly (including the Hall sensor) may need replacement.
Warning: Do not glue magnets or modify the brush without using OEM parts; incorrect magnet placement can damage the sensor or cause erratic operation.
