Possible Causes
Debris jammed behind front bumper, Bumper springs misaligned, Dirty or failed bumper IR sensors, Loose bumper sensor cable
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the robot and remove it from the dock.
- Check bumper movement: Gently press the front bumper in and release. It should move freely and spring back evenly on both sides.
- Clear obstructions: Inspect the gap between the bumper and the body. Use compressed air or a soft brush to remove dust, crumbs, or pet hair that may be jamming it.
- Clean bumper sensors: If your Wyze model uses IR sensors behind the bumper, wipe the visible sensor windows with a soft, dry cloth.
- Tap to free stuck springs: Lightly tap the bumper along its length to free any stuck springs or guides.
- Test operation: Power on the robot and start a cleaning cycle in an open area. Gently tap the bumper to confirm it responds and the robot changes direction.
- If C5 remains: The bumper switch assembly or sensor board may be damaged or disconnected. Internal inspection involves removing the top cover and bumper assembly; this is a moderate to advanced repair. Contact Wyze support if you are unsure.
