Possible Causes

Side brush tangled with hair or cords, Side brush hub cracked or deformed, Side brush motor shaft jammed, Foreign object wedged under side brush guard

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch the robot OFF and remove it from the dock.

  • 1. Remove the side brush: Turn the robot over. Use a small screwdriver or your fingers to remove the screw holding the side brush (if present), then pull the brush straight off the motor shaft.
  • 2. Clear tangles: Remove hair, threads, and debris from the bristles and from around the hub where it mounts to the shaft.
  • 3. Inspect the shaft: Check the exposed motor shaft for hair wrapped around it. Carefully pull off any buildup without bending the shaft.
  • 4. Check for damage: If the side brush hub is cracked, warped, or the bristles are badly bent, replace the side brush.
  • 5. Clean surrounding area: Remove any debris trapped between the side brush and the bottom cover or bumper.
  • 6. Reinstall and test: Refit the side brush, tighten the screw snugly (do not overtighten), power the robot ON, and start a test clean. If E2 returns immediately, the side brush motor may be failing and require replacement.

Warning: Never force the side brush to turn while the robot is powered; this can strip the motor gears.
