Thermostat does not respond to touch or buttons intermittently or at all

Safety first: Turn off power to the HVAC system before removing the thermostat.

• Step 1 – Reboot: Turn off the furnace/air handler breaker for 1–2 minutes, then restore power and test the screen.
• Step 2 – Clean screen: Wipe the screen with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils or debris that may affect touch sensitivity.
• Step 3 – Reseat thermostat: Remove and reinstall the thermostat on its wall plate to ensure good electrical contact.
• Step 4 – Replace thermostat: If the screen remains unresponsive or only works in certain areas, the touchscreen assembly is faulty and the thermostat should be replaced.
