Thermostat buttons or touch interface are unresponsive or laggy

Safety: You can leave HVAC power on; no high-voltage work is needed.

• Reboot thermostat: Remove the thermostat from the wall plate for 30 seconds, then reseat it to force a reboot.
• Clean surface: Wipe the front of the thermostat with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils or debris that may affect touch sensitivity.
• Use Alexa app: Temporarily control temperature via the Alexa app while testing if the physical interface recovers.

If the interface remains unresponsive after reboot and cleaning, the front panel/touch circuitry is likely damaged and the thermostat should be replaced.
