Thermostat frequently disconnects from power when touched or bumped

Safety: Turn off HVAC power at the breaker before adjusting the wall plate.

• Inspect wall plate: Remove the thermostat and check that the wall plate is firmly attached to the wall with both screws tight.
• Straighten wall: If the wall is uneven, use wall anchors or a backing plate to ensure the wall plate sits flat.
• Check contacts: Inspect the pogo pins on the thermostat and the mating pads on the wall plate for damage or contamination. Clean gently with a dry cloth.
• Reseat firmly: Reattach the thermostat, pressing evenly until it clicks into place.

If power still drops with slight movement and contacts appear damaged, replace the wall plate or the entire thermostat assembly.
