Possible Causes
Dead batteries in wireless sensor, Sensor out of range, RF interference from other devices, Failed wireless radio in thermostat or sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Only low-voltage and battery-powered components are involved; no breaker work is required.
- Replace sensor batteries: Open the American Standard wireless sensor and replace batteries with the recommended type, observing polarity. Re-seat the battery cover firmly.
- Re-pair the sensor: On the thermostat, go to Accessories → Sensors and follow prompts to add or re-pair the wireless sensor. Press the pairing button on the sensor if required.
- Reduce distance and obstacles: Move the sensor closer to the thermostat or reduce the number of walls between them. Avoid placing sensors near metal cabinets or appliances that block RF signals.
- Check for interference: If you have many Wi‑Fi or Zigbee devices, try changing your router’s Wi‑Fi channel or moving high-power transmitters away from the thermostat.
Note: If multiple sensors fail to connect, the thermostat’s wireless radio may be defective.
